International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) is an annual observance held every third week of October, with this year’s event taking place from October 20 to 26. The purpose of IIPW 2024 is to educate stakeholders and the general public on the critical importance of preventing the spread of illnesses and infectious agents.

Infections, ranging from common colds to more serious diseases, can significantly impede healthcare workers’ efforts and have a detrimental impact on public health. Each year, thousands of health concerns in hospitals are caused by secondary infections, while global pandemics can be sparked by the rapid spread of infectious pathogens.

The main aim of IIPW 2024 is to enhance awareness and comprehension of infection prevention practices, ultimately leading to enhanced patient safety. In pursuit of this common goal, we are pleased to provide a list of infection prevention guidelines below:
