The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recently released their draft recommendation statement titled Cervical Cancer: Screening, which was published online on December 10, 2024.
This recommendation serves as an update to the previous 2018 guideline. The latest draft remains consistent with the 2018 recommendation but includes a new recommendation. It now suggests that HPV primary screening every 5 years is the preferred screening strategy for individuals starting at the age of 30 years. Additionally, patient-collected HPV screening has been included in this updated draft for consideration.
The draft recommendation statement and accompanying evidence review are currently open for public feedback. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments here by January 13, 2025.
