The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recently released their draft recommendation statement titled “Intimate Partner Violence and Caregiver Abuse of Older or Vulnerable Adults: Screening,” which was published online on October 29, 2024.
In accordance with the latest screening guidelines, the USPSTF recommends that clinicians screen for intimate partner violence (IPV) in pregnant and postpartum individuals, as well as women of reproductive age. This recommendation serves as an update to their previous 2018 guideline, “Intimate Partner Violence, Elder Abuse, and Abuse of Vulnerable Adults: Screening.”
The draft recommendation statement and accompanying evidence review are currently open for public feedback. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments here by November 25, 2024.
